SIGN UP TO JUDGE

The activity of speech and debate depends on parents and community members serving as judges for each tournament throughout the season. The critiques and comments provided by you as judges help students refine their work and become better competitors. Judging at a tournament also gives you an opportunity to better understand the activity and the amount of work your student devotes to Speech and Debate.

Please review the HANDBOOK for policies regarding judging commitments. Each student is required to provide one judge for every three tournaments s/he attends. This equates to a minimum of two judges during the season. For every requirement not met, a $175 judging fee is owed to hire a replacement judge.

Additionally, parents are needed to chaperone and judge national tournaments during the season. The TOURNAMENT CALENDAR has a listing of all local and national tournaments throughout the season. Please use this to check your schedules and determine when you can volunteer.

To sign up to judge a tournament, you have two options:

1. Your student can register you when they register to compete at the tournament. We encourage parents to sign up early. Once we have filled our judging slots for each tournament, we will not accept additional volunteers and you will need to find an alternate date to meet your judging requirements. Please make sure to communicate with your student which tournament dates you are available to judge.
2. Sign up to judge a tournament using the google form below! As outlined above and in our team handbook, judging slots are on a first-come, first-served basis, and parents will need to find a different tournament to meet their judging requirements if the slots are filled. Parents will receive an email confirming whether they have a judging placement or not.

Thank you for supporting our students and helping make our ability to compete at tournaments possible!
